~ My Asian Movie Day ~

Went out for my solo movie day today. I didn't mean to make it all Asian movies, but everyone else besides me has already watched Ip Man 2 and I do want to watch it, so that was movie 1. Movie 2 I was looking at the list and I decided to choose something that no one related or remotely connected to me would ever watch and that was Ice Kacang Puppy Love.

Started off with a bang with Ip Man 2!!!

Donnie Yen MAN!!! I never knew how awesome he was till I watched the Ip Man movies. Hehe. And now my friend keeps telling me to go watch his other movies like Flashpoint, 14 Blades and Bodyguards and Assassins. So maybe one day I will. Haha.

I was thinking at the end of Ip Man 2 that I should've watched Ice Kachang Puppy Love first then Ip Man 2 as I thought Ip Man 2 was an awesome movie and watching a romance film after that didn't feel quite right.

Ice Kacang Puppy Love

I was so so wrong. XD

The movie was nice! I actually could not tell it was Malaysian made! Ah Niu really did a good job with this movie! It felt very much like an art piece. All very nice shots and melancholy music and all that good gooey stuff you need in an art piece. (I'm trying to think of a different term here but I keep coming back to art piece... >.<)

I do actually loved this movie. It was funny! And I could kinda relate to some of the issues it portrayed, so it felt like I was watching a Malaysian's kid's life all over again. (Not my life, some other Malaysian kid's life. Ah Niu for example. :P) And all the love triangles/quadrangles in the movie was hilarious. Made me think of all the funny relationships I saw in my own school in my time. Seeing how the kids coped with their first love was a reminder as to how I coped with my first love (FYI, I did not cope, I just moped. :P).

One issue I think people may have with it is that if you're not Malaysian or Singaporean, you may not get the movie totally. In my opinion it works very well for a Malaysian to like take a nostalgic trip back into their childhood, but for someone who doesn't understand the culture, they just may not get it.

All in all, I would say today I had loads of fun! Ip Man 2 was awesomely action packed! And Ice Kacang Puppy Love had all the makings of an art piece that entertained me to no end! And I would say Ice Kacang Puppy Love was the better movie of the two. I tried to think of the best fight in Ip Man 2, I couldn't really think of one. All the fights were about the same intensity, but none of them really popped out at me like in the first Ip Man (His fight with the Northen guy).

There's still hope for Malaysian Movies after all... XD

And hope Malaysia's badminton as well. Lol. I'll get to that next post. XD

Some simple other stuff:
LORD SUNDAY IS OUT!!!

GAAHHHH!!! And to just save RM2.29, I decided to come home today to get my Popular Member Card (My dad's) to then go to Popular tomorrow to buy.

You would think it would be cheaper if I just bought it then and there and save on the petrol needed to go and buy it somewhere else no? ^^;;
